Who are we?

The Legion seeks to promote interest in Star Wars through the building and wearing of quality costumes, and to facilitate the use of these costumes for Star Wars-related events as well as contributions to the local community through costumed charity and volunteer work.

About Us

What is required to join?

Members must be 18 years of age or older and own a high-quality costume representing any of the characters conforming to our character approval statement. You can find a list of currently recognized costumes in the Costume Reference Library section of the site.

There are no fees and the only requirements pertain to age and costume quality. The 501st is simply a fun, all-volunteer group of fans representing characters from the Star Wars saga. For more information on the goals of the club, read the Mission Statement.

If you are under 18, please check out the Galactic Academy, a group created for our younger cadets. If you are looking to create a Jedi, X-wing pilot or other hero character visit the Rebel Legion.

Bad guys doing good

While the 501st was initially founded to unite costumers with a penchant for Star Wars villainy, one of our real-world missions is to bring good to our communities through volunteer charity work.

Happy Finnish Language Day!

For our followers outside of Finland, simply say "hei" (pronounced like "hay") when you greet someone today. They may not realize it, but you'll be contributing to the celebration by saying "hello" in Finnish.  If you're really daring, say it twice ("hei hei") when you leave to say goodbye.

Hyvää suomen kielen päivää!

Even when you're The Emperor, it never hurts to have some guards nearby...

...especially when there's a Shadow Lord running around (on mechanical legs, no less) seeking revenge!
